In 2016 Sean Davey was commissioned by Australian company Niulife to travel to the Solomon Islands to produce photographs and videos of sustainable and organic coconut oil production. During his time in the country, Davey was welcomed to shoot freely amongst the communities in which he was working. As well as fulfilling his brief for the company’s marketing and advertising material, Davey shot avidly between organised photoshoots, capturing moments of daily life in some of Solomon Islands smaller villages.

in 2017 Davey returned to Solomon Islands on a commission from the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade to document the end of the Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands (RAMSI). A book and exhibition of this subsequent commission ‘Next Generation’ was produced in 2017 and exhibited in 2018 at PhotoAccess and Parliament House in Canberra and NSW Parliament House in Sydney, Australia.
